Countdown to Showcase: Wednesday, Friday & Saturday updates
It is not your imagination: This IS a hectic, busy, stressful week…please bear with us and remember that it is ALL for the kids. They are preparing to dance in a professionally produced stage show before several thousand people. Take a deep breath and be kind! If you have an unanswered question, just ask! We learned a lot from the 3 earlier Showcase events. We are getting better at this, but always looking at ways to improve.
*5/16-Wednesday Studio Practice: 5pm-8pm, check in at 4:45pm. (No PRE-dancers)
-
Costume/Wardrobe volunteers that did not show up at Tuesday practice would be helpful at this Wednesday practice to help watch the students in the downstairs studio rooms while they wait for stage call.
-
If you pack a snack for your child, please help them understand that they MUST clean up! Pistachios are a healthy snack, but we had to sweep up way too many shells.
-
Wear practice clothes that you don’t mind getting WET! We will have our annual “water balloon toss” at the end of practice….parents: Have you ever seen 262 water balloons tossed into the air? We haven’t either! We will gather in the back parking lot around 7:45pm if you want to watch!
- Showcase t-shirts are ready for pick-up after practice.
- Wire hangars are available in the ballet room if you need them for costume preparation. (Please see earlier posts and emails about costumes.)
*5/17-Thursday-Night off unless practice needed.
*5/18- Friday RIVERPARK CENTER (RPC) practice, 5:30-8pm, check in at 5:15pm. (No PRE-dancers) ALL VOLUNTEERS!
- PARKING at RPC: Drop-off for practice through back-doors on the loading dock (east side) of the building. Volunteers & parents can park on the East side of the building & in the parking lot between the Blue Bridge & the building with the Kentucky mirror mural. LeAnne learned late Tuesday afternoon that the RiverPark booked a wedding reception for Friday night. (The first Friday After 5 was already scheduled.) This was not in her agreement with them. We are sorry in advance for inconvenience that this adds to an already stressful, busy week!
- This practice is for blocking, staging, music & lighting during the run through of all dances. It is NOT a dress rehearsal, but LeAnne requests that all dancers wear their black Musick Studios t-shirts to this practice for her to get a better stage visual. Any pants that dancers wear for class are OK. Bring your dance shoes for this practice!
-
Bring all COSTUMES on wire HANGARS and deliver them to your dancer’s assigned dressing room to which your child. (Costume/wardrobe volunteers..report to your assigned rooms by 5:15pm to receive & hang the costumes on racks in the dressing rooms.) Please note that the black Musick Studios t-shirt and blue jeans ARE a costume for the grand finale. If you want to take the black t-shirt home to wash after your child wears it for this practice, be sure that you return it on a hanger with the jeans on Saturday morning. NO SKINNY JEANS ALLOWED for routines…costume volunteers cannot pull them off of sweaty kids…last year we almost had to cut some off of the dancers!
*5/19-Saturday RIVERPARK CENTER full DRESS REHEARSAL, 9am-3pm, check in at 8:40AM. (Pre-Hip Hop & Pre-Ballet, check in at 8:45AM, check out at 12NOON. Bring all costumes.)
-
ALL VOLUNTEERS needed at RPC!
-
EVERY PARTICIPANT (Dancers, Volunteers & Staff) are responsible for packing own brown bag lunch….no gooey food, no peanut butter & jelly, no pizza or food with sauce.
-
Bring labeled REFILLABLE WATER BOTTLES ONLY! No food allowed in dressing rooms; only refillable water-bottle–make sure name is on water bottle & sack lunch.
- Dancers must wear nude-color underwear/bra/panties under their costumes unless their instructor has them wearing a nude-colored bodysuit.
Other details: We are anxiously waiting to learn if Showcase Photos will arrive in time for distribution on Saturday or Sunday. If not, you will be notified of their arrival. DVD’s pick up at class registration on July 21. They are and mastered by a company that we contract with…please be patient…they’ll be worth the wait.
Note from LeAnne: “Thank you so much to all the staff and parents and adult class for helping out these past few days! We are holding strong and with all your hard work, it will truly pay off. I promise when I say… I wouldn’t be able to do it without you! To my students; you are doing an amazing job and I am so proud of each and every one of you!!!”
